Cancellation & Refund Policy (for individual suite reservations on our website)

Guest receives 97% if cancellation occurs more than 30 days before arrival; Guest receives 50% if cancellation occurs more than 7 days before arrival; No refunds within 7 days of arrival.

*As a small business, we must honor our cancellation policies and are unable to make exceptions for any reason. We highly encourage guests to purchase the optional cancellation insurance available when booking on our website to protect your reservation to be up to 100% refundable for any reason. More details are available during the checkout process.

Pet Policy

Well-behaved pets and their responsible owners are welcome in the Rattlesnake and Coyote Suites, with a $50 pet fee per pet and $300 refundable pet deposit (this is just a hold placed on your card through our reservation website, and it is released after check-out once we have had a chance to inspect the room for damages). Please notify us of the breed and size of your pet at the time of booking.

 We also ask that you agree to our rules for having pets on the property:

  1. Two pets maximum per suite.

  2. Keep pets leashed at all times while on the property.

  3. Clean up all pet waste right away and dispose of it in the dumpster on the street at the front of the property (you can also take pets across the street to the park to use the restroom). A $50 clean-up fee will be charged for pet waste left on the property.

  4. Keep pets off the furniture, or if you absolutely cannot, please cover any furniture thoroughly (we provide a pet blanket to cover the sofa in a basket in each suite, and can provide additional blankets upon request). 

  5. Do not allow pets to bark incessantly or cause disturbance to the other guests.

  6. By bringing a pet, you agree that you will pay for any and all damages caused by pets to furniture, furnishings, or grounds at the property.

Policies for Children Under 12

Children under 12 are allowed to stay in the Rattlesnake and Coyote Suites (2 maximum), with the understanding that our spaces are not designed to be specifically “child friendly” (our suites have high end art, antique furnishings, plants, and vintage items within reach of small hands), and you may need to keep a close eye on children and move things out of reach during your stay.

We ask that you be the judge of whether this is an appropriate space for your individual child to stay, as you'll be responsible for any damages. 

Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult at all times while on the property. To maintain the peaceful enjoyment of the grounds for our other guests, please keep noise at a considerate volume. There is a wonderful park with a playground right across the street that is great for kids, as well as several children's museums and activities within walking distance. 

Early Check-In and Late Check-Out Policy

We can usually accommodate earlier check-in or later check-out times (based on availability) for $10 per hour, up to 2 hours on either end (so as early as 2pm check-in, or 1pm check-out).

If you would like to add early check-in or late check-out to your reservation, please notify us when making your reservation, or at least 24 hours in advance. Unfortunately we cannot accommodate last minute early check-in or late check-out if it has not previously been scheduled, as our cleaners have already made their schedules for the day.

Group Booking Policies & Recommendations

We welcome your group to stay at The Desert Compass! To ensure the peaceful enjoyment of all of our guests, we ask that you please take note of our group policies:

  • We encourage groups of 3-4 suites to reserve the Cactus, Luna, Yucca and Cowgirl Suites, as they are all located in one common building. View our property map for more details.

  • Parties or events hosted at The Desert Compass are strictly prohibited without a full property buyout and written approval. Only registered guests are allowed at the property.

  • Quiet hours are between 9PM and 9AM. Please be respectful of the neighbors and other guests at the property by keeping music and conversations at a low volume during quiet hours.
